The Indianola boys mounted a huge second half comeback Friday evening against Linn-Mar in the substate semifinal round, but couldn’t hold on to a double-digit fourth quarter lead as they fell to the Lions 65-64 as heard live on 94.3 KNIA.

The roller-coaster game was fitting for the wild ride Indianola has been on this season. The ride, however, came to a shrieking halt as Linn-Mar came into Indianola and ended the 19-win Indianola season with a 65-64 upset. Jackson Severson hit two free throws with 10 seconds remaining to take the lead as the 10-13 Linn-Mar Lions advanced to face Ames in the Class 4A Region 6 final this week.

Indianola is rolling into the postseason following a 94-64 win over Des Moines East on Feb. 14. It was all roses for Indianola from the start as they raced out to a 29-13 lead after the first and never slowed down on the way to its highest-scoring game of the season.
